JESSIE UMPHLETT PORTER

   Portsmouth - A funeral service for Mrs. Jessie Umphlett Porter, 67, was 
held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Chapel, by the 
Rev. H. Fred Edge.  Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, with the 
Rev. R.E. Brittle officiating.

   She died Sunday in her home in Portsmouth.

   A native of Franklin, she was the wife of Oscar M. Porter.

   She was a member of the Christian Church.

   Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Bernice Story and Mrs. Zellie 
Barden of Franklin and Mrs. Cora McClenny of Chester; a brother, William 
Joseph Umphlett Jr. of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews.
