Harry L. Kidd, Jr. Burial was in Olive Branch Cemetery with Foster Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Robert Collins, Harvey Eure, Bob Basham, Frank Faulker, Fred Rabel, Dickie Lassiter and Everett Lassiter. Porter who retired in 1969 as a carman of Seaboard Coast Line Railway after 49 years, died Tuesday night in a hospital. He was a native of Newsoms and the husband of the late Virginia O. Porter. He was a member and a trustee of Cottage Place United Methodist Church, a choir member for more than 40 years, and a member of Bristow Bible Class and the Loyal Star. Survivors include a daughter Margaret L. Pope of Portsmouth; three brothers, Sam B. Porter of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jack N. Porter of Charlotte, N.C., and Roger T. Porter of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.
