Harry Bunch and the Rev. John W. Williams. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.T. Story, Eppa Prince, Roy Bradshaw, Lloyd Taylor, James Fuller, Thomas W. Johnson, George Cook and Bennie Bunn. Porter, 74, died Saturday morning in his home. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Willie James and Mrs. Juliet James Porter and the husband of Mrs. Lorena Miles Porter. He was a member of Newsoms United Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, James H. Porter and Walter L. Porter of Newsoms and Raymond L. Porter of Franklin; three brothers, B.F. Porter and Harvey Porter of Newsoms and Willie J. Porter Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Mattie Mawyer of Richmond; and three grandchildren.
