Marvin Porter, 75, was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in High Street United Methodist Church by the Revs. Jeremy Galloway and Robert Fridley. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with Wright Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Porter died Sunday in a hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Janie E. Porter. He was a retired owner of Ideal Barber Shop and was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Franklin Lions Club, Woodmen of the World and Knights of Pythias. Other survivors include a daughter, Martha P. Williams of Colonial Heights; a son, Marvin Gilbert Porter of Franklin; four sisters, Annie P. Hedgepeth, Bessie P. Seldomridge and Lydia P. Griggs of Franklin and Arie P. Wilkins of Suffolk; two brothers, Ray Porter and Cecil Porter of Franklin; and five grandchildren.
