Parham of Capron died Tuesday afternoon, August 6, in the Henry A. Wise Hospital, Virginia Beach, after an illness of a little over two weeks. The funeral services were held from the Capron Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. L.D. Stables, pastor, assisted by the Rev. H.B. Jennings of the Capron Baptist Church. Members of the Methodist and Baptist choirs sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Burial was in the Capron Cemetery. Besides her parents she is survived by three sisters, Barbara June, Linda and Judith Parham and two brothers, Lewis and Russell Parham, all of Capron, two half-sister, Mrs. J.R. Johnson, Jr. of Carrollton, Va., Mrs. Allison Murphy of Akron, Ohio; two half-brothers, Robert L. Parham of Capron and Thomas Parham in Windsor, Va., a maternal grandmother, Mrs. S.L. Lovegrove of Scotland Neck, N.C., and several aunts and uncles. Betty had a bright, sunny disposition and was a favorite among her many friends, which was shown by the attendance and the beautiful floral designs which covered the grave. She was a member of the Capron Methodist Church and the Intermediate class of the Sunday school. Active pallbearers were John E. Fox, Alfred G. Stabes, Emerson Burgess, Raymond Burgess, Marks Turner, James Francis, Billy Scarborough, Jesse T. Marks.
