JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - A funeral service for James Thomas Rowe Jr., 69, will be held today at 2 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, the Rev. J.M. Tongue. Burial will be at Twelve Oaks Farm family cemetery in Southampton County. Pallbearers were: Jimmy Rowe, Bailey Ashby, Jack Pond, Harold Owen, Edward Williams, Burrell Sanders, and Stuart Ashby. Rowe died Monday in his home. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Rose T. Palmieri Rowe. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and formerly worked for the Virginia State Highway Department, Richmond. He retired in 1977 as a building engineer for Seaboard Railroad. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia. Other survivors include two sons, J. Thomas Rowe III, of Livingston, Mont., and Robert E. Rowe of Huntingson, W.Va.; and four grandchildren.
