All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CATHERINE PIERCE RABY Mrs. Catherine Raby, wife of Richard Raby, of this county died February 19, 1931, at the Virginian Hospital, Suffolk, after an illness of several weeks. She was 49 years of age. Besides her husband, she is survived by five children, Misses Margaret, Catherine and Stella Maie Raby and Julius and Sidney Raby, all of this county. One sister, Mrs. J.M. Luke of Reid’s Ferry and five brothers, F.C. Pierce and J.R. Pierce of Suffolk, E.J. Pierce of Tennessee, W.R. Pierce and R.S. Pierce of Suffolk. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, February 20 at 2:30 o’clock at Black Creek Church, conducted by Rev. R.P. Welch, assisted by Dr. H.J. Godwin of Suffolk. The hymns "Rock of Ages," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "God Be with You Till We Meet Again" were sung by the church choir. Active pallbearers were A.N. Holt, J.K. Wade, J.J. Camp, J.L. Doughtie, D.C. Spence, J.L. Hatfield, R.W. Gillette, J.R. Wester. Interment took place in the church cemetery. Catherine J.
