Raiford, one of the pioneer Friends of the Corinth community, passed away at her home Saturday, July 19, in her 78th year. She was born in Isle of Wight County, Va., one of 7 children of John and Martha Babb. She was married in 1878 to Mills E. Raiford, who died in 1914, and to this union one daughter was born. A nephew, Herbert H. Babb, was reared in this home, as a son, and continued to make a home for her during her life time. A number of other young people were given a home for longer or shorter periods of time, that they might have better educational advantages. She was devoted to her church and a faithful attendant so long as health permitted. She had been in failing health for some time, but her cheerful, loving spirit and firm faith in God as her personal Savior and Friend, brightened all her days and cheered all who came in contact with her. Surviving her besides her nephew, Herbert H. Babb and the daughter Mrs. Charles E. Neave, are three grandsons, one brother, Dr. B.F. Babb of Ivor and a large number of nephews and nieces.
