     DEATH OF EDWIN RAIFORD 
              ---- 
  Mr. Edwin Raiford, the oldest 
member of the large and well- 
known family of that name in 
Southampton, died at his home in 
the Corinth community, Wednes- 
day morning, December 1, in his 
eightieth year.  He was an hon- 
orable and upright citizen, a man 
of simple, unassuming manners 
but of genuine sterling worth and 
possessing a wide circle of friends. 
He was a life long and consistent 
member of the Society of Friends; 
holding his membership with 
Corinth Church, and had been a 
prominent figure in the Baltimore 
Yearly Meeting for many years. 
He was one of the founders and 
consistent supporters of Corinth 
Academy and stood steadfastly for 
right living and high civic ideals 
in his home community, county 
and throughout the nation. 
  He is survived by one daughter, 
Mrs. John E. Babb; a sister, Mrs. 
Mary Bradshaw; two brothers, 
Messrs. E. J. and W. G. Raiford, 
besides a large number of neph- 
ews and nieces.  The funeral was 
held Thursday afternoon at 1 
o'clock, from Corinth Friends 
Church, the services being con- 
ducted by Rev. A. E. Cloud, pastor 
of the deceased.  The pallbearers 
were John E. Babb, Jeptha V. 
Hare, E. F., Joseph L., T. Philip, 
Hunter D., E. Jerome and Dr. R. 
L. Raiford.
