HERMAN CLYDE RAIFORD 

   FRANKLIN - A funeral service for Herman Clyde Raiford was conducted 
Tuesday, July 25 at 2 p.m. in Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, Durham, by the 
Rev. Warren Carr.  Burial was in Mountain View Baptist Church cemetery, 
on Rt. 3, near King, N.C.

   Raiford, 68, retired secretary-director of the Durham, N.C., YMCA and 
Boys Camp, died in Southampton Memorial Hospital Sunday morning.  He was 
visiting here when stricken.

   He was the husband of Mrs. Nell Carroll Raiford and a son of William 
Burgess and Mrs. Ella Dora Hedgepeth Raiford of Southampton County.

   He was a member of Watts Baptist Church, Durham, and a graduate of 
Guilford College.

   Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Claiborne Whitehead 
of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. C.K. Stroud of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a 
brother, Algie Raiford of Ivor; and two grandchildren.
