RAIFORD On February 23, ended the life of a prominent and useful citizen and farmer of Corinth community, John T. Raiford. He was born December 17, 1847, the son of William and Mrs. Elizabeth Jenkins Raiford and died on the farm on which he was born. He was married in 1877 to Miss Louisa Barnes, who survives him. They had no children but reared August Ruhwadel of Atlantic City, N.J., and three children of Mrs. Raiford's brother, whose parents had died; one of these died in young manhood, the others, Mrs. Bonnie May Barnes Jones and Herman Barnes survive. One brother, Levi P. Raiford, and numbers of nieces and nephews. He is the last to go of the charter members of Corinth Friends Church, which was established in 1882. For a number of years he has been the most consulted member of the church and his judgment was considered wise, not only in church affairs but in matters of business. He was a stockholder and director of the Merchants and Farmers Bank of Ivor throughout its existence. He had been in failing health for four years. The funeral was held at Corinth Church Thursday at 12:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. Jesse Stanfield. E. Jerome Raiford sang "One Sweetly Solemn Thought."
