Raiford, 82, died Monday afternoon in a Suffolk hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Vernon and Mrs. Mattie Barnes Raiford. He was a retired farmer and a member and deacon of Millfield Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sedley WOW. He is survived by his wife, Addie Morris Raiford; two sons, Ashby G. Raiford of Windsor and Marion J. Raiford of Ivor; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth R. Ward of Newport News; three brothers, William N. Raiford and Albert Raiford of Sedley and Emmett Raiford of Capron; a sister, Mrs. Othelia Pond of Sedley; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Millfield Baptist Church Wednesday at 3:30 by the Rev. John L. McTeer. Burial was in the Millfield Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Herman W. Wade, A. Meredith Felts, E.V. Stephenson Jr., R.L. Harrup, L.A. Bradshaw, J.W. Ballard, B.F. Booth, Garland Davis and Johnny Ballard.
