RAIFORD, IVOR CITIZEN, DIES AT 62 T. Philip Raiford, prominent Ivor citizen, died Monday afternoon in Raiford Hospital. Mr. Raiford, who was 62, had been a successful farmer and meat packer in Ivor and was a leading member of Corinth Friends Church, having been for many years an elder of that Meeting. He was the son of the late George W. and Almedia Bowen Raiford of this county. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sue Farlow Raiford; a daughter, Mrs. R. Tremain, of Alexandria; a son, Dr. Theodore S. Raiford of Decatur, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Allen Neave of Guilford College, N.C., and Mrs. Jos. L. Hare of Holland; four brothers, Dr. R.L. Raiford of Franklin, Hunter D. and E. Wistar Raiford of Ivor and E. Jerome Raiford of Petersburg; a number of nieces and nephews and three grandchildren. Services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Corinth Friends Church by the Rev. James Rauch Stein, pastor and Judge J. Hoge Ricks of Richmond, assisted by the Rev. B.B. Bland of Franklin. Scripture was read by Mr. Stein and remarks made by Judge Ricks, Rev. Mr. Bland offering prayer. The choir of the church sang "In the Garden" and Haven of Rest." Interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, pallbearers being W.C. Andrews, Charles Neave, Johnnie Stephenson, Russell Lowe, Burnley D. Raiford*, J.D. Saunders, Herman Barnes and Isaac White. Friends of the family acted as honorary pallbearers. WWI Draft registration gives William Burnley; 1930 Census gives Burnley W. He was a second cousin, once removed, of Philip. Pallbearer Russell Landon LOWE (18 Aug 1906 - 4 Jul 1972) was a second cousin of Philip. Pallbearer Robert 'Herman' BARNES (1902 - 1970) was adopted by his paternal aunt Louisa J., who m. John Tyler RAIFORD, a first cousin, once removed, of Philip.
