Ricks, died in a hospital in Norfolk on Wednesday, May 21st, after a severe operation from which she never rallied. Her illness was very brief and her death was a great shock to us all. She was buried in the family cemetery near Clarksbury Church, this county, Rev. Porter Hardy reading the simple service. The deceased was the daughter of George K. Ricks and was twice married, first to Frank Worrell and some years after his death, to W.J. Ricks. She is survived by her husband and father, above-mentioned; four children, Mary, Louis, Henry and Ruby Worrell; four step-children; four brothers, P.H. Ricks of Norfolk, W.M. and W.A. Ricks of this county, and C.N. Ricks of Weldon, N.C.; and two sisters, Mrs. J.H. Lee and Mrs. L.L. Glover of Drewryville. Mrs. Ricks had been a life-long member of Person's church, this county, but in more recent years, having moved to the vicinity of Clarksbury, she gave this church her unstinted loyalty and support. Her last husband was a widower when they were married, and she lovingly gave herself to the care of his four children by his former wife as well as to her own; for a mother-heart is the most embracing, most sacred thing in the world. The eight children and the stricken husband will look forward to joining her in the great bye and bye, where we trust the circle will be unbroken forever. A large number of friends attended the burial and the entire family is very grateful for the many expressions of sympathy in these hours of their grief. Effie Deen (RICKS WORRELL; Mrs. Willie J.)
