JOE THOMAS RICKS

   Sedley - A funeral service for Joe Thomas Ricks, 71, was held Sunday at 2 
p.m. in St. Luke United Christian Church by the Rev. J.J. Ferguson.  Burial was 
in the Ricks Family Cemetery.

   He died Thursday in his home.

   A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ella Ricks.  He 
was a retired farmer and a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ and its 
deacon board, choir and usher board. He was former church treasurer.

   Other survivors include a daughter, Miss Marya F. Ricks of Sedley; two 
sisters, Mrs. Edith Brown of Norfolk and Mrs. Lucy Mae Green of Wakefield; and 
two brothers, Richard Ricks Jr. and William Ricks, also of Wakefield.
