All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ LYNIE BRANCH RIDLEY REESE Funeral Tomorrow For Mrs. Reese COURTLAND -- Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Courtland's Riverside Cemetery for Mrs. Lynie Ridley Reese, 67-year-old Courtland resident who died late yesterday at Raiford Memorial Hospital, Franklin, after an illness of many months. The Rev. Richard H.L. Vanaman, pastor of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Mrs. Reese was the wife of Dr. E.F. Reese, II, of Courtland. She was a native of Southampton County, having been born at Violet Hill Plantation near Courtland. She was the daughter of the late J. William and Bettie Goodwin Ridley, and was a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Courtland. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Dr. E.F. Reese, III, of Courtland; three sisters, Mrs. William Shands, of Courtland, Mrs. Elliot Vawter, of Huntington, W.Va., and Mrs. J.H. Musgrave, of Leesburg, Ala.; one brother, Churchill G. Ridley, of Courtland; and a number of nieces and nephews. ****************************************************************************** FUNERAL RITES FOR MRS. REESE HELD WEDNESDAY Mrs. Lynie Ridley Reese, 68, well-known resident of Courtland, died late Monday afternoon, November 14, in Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of many months. Mrs. Reese was the wife of Dr. E.F. Reese, Jr. of Courtland. She was a native of Southampton County, having been born at Violet Hill Plantation near Courtland. She was the daughter of the late J. William and Betty Goodwyn Ridley, and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Courtland. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Dr. E.F. Reese, 3rd, of Courtland; three sisters, Mrs. William Shands of Courtland, Mrs. Elliott Vawter of Huntington,W.Va., and Mrs. J.H. Musgrave of Leesburg; one brother, Churchill G. Ridley of Courtland, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, Rev. Richard, H.L. Vanaman, rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, officiated, assisted by Bishop William A. Brown of Portsmouth and Rev. William Brayshaw of Smithfield. Active pallbearers were Lucius Manry, Milton Futrell, John Boothe, J. Ryland Brooks, Warren E. Edwards, L.A. Clements, George Close and Dr. Henry L.
