ROSE Mrs. Frank W. Rose died at her home near Franklin Friday, November 24, at 8 o'clock p.m., in her sixty-first year, following an illness of several months from a complication of diseases. She was the daughter of the late Uriah Bracey of this county and was married about forty years age to her husband the survives her with four children, Miss Willie Rose of Windsor, Va., Mrs. Sallie Wellons and Mrs. Estelle Wellons of Sedley and Paul Rose. She was for thirty years a devoted, consistent and faithful member of Black Creek Baptist Church; honored and loved in her home as a loyal help-mate and self-sacrificing mother, and esteemed in her church and community as a noble and generous Christian character. The funeral services were held from the home on the following day at 2:30 o'clock by Dr. C.H. Rowland of Franklin and the interment followed in the family burial plot. The pallbearers were: A.R. White, L.L. Manry, Dr. A.P. Cutchin, T.E. Beale, C.C. Brantley, J.T. Rose, J.E. Beale, and L.L. Scott. May God comfort and console the stricken home and the loved ones who are sorely bereaved in the loss of wife and mother. Martha L. "Mattie" (BRACEY; Mrs. Frank W.) ROSE, d. 24 Nov 1916, at home, near Franklin, age 61, interred in the ROSE family cemetery*, 25 Nov 1916, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), Dec. 1, 1916 *Location not known (Jul 2013) to the Southampton County Historical Society {SCHS} Cemetery Project. Her daughter Mattie Estelle was also buried there, according to her obit, but she is marked in Rosemont Cemetery- her remains may have been moved. Her husband (who remarried) and her sister Sally are also buried there.
