Ricks, 79, died in a Norfolk hospital early Friday morning, July 13, after a long illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Madie Glover Ricks and the son of the late George King and Mary Jackson Ricks. Mr. Ricks was a native and retired farmer of Southampton County, but he had made his residence in Norfolk the past 14 years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Norfolk. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Linwood T. Ricks of Franklin and Louis S. Ricks of Norfolk; one daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Jennings of McKeesport, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Harvey Lee of Boykins and Mrs. L.L. Glover of Scotland Neck, N.C.; two brothers, Cecil N. Ricks of Ahoskie, N.C. and Waverly A. Ricks of Colonial Heights; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the H.M. Purviance Memorial Funeral Chapel, Boykins, by Rev. Nelson P. Vinson of Trinity Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. David S. Willis, pastor of the Capron Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Charlie Pope, Joseph Lee, James Lee, Doc Lee, Ike Lee, Lewis Worrell and Henry Worrell. Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers. Willard M.
