WALTER D. RICE

DEATH OF A FORMER SUFFOLKIAN

   Mr. Walter Rice, aged about twenty-two years, died at his home, in Arrington, 
Southampton County, Va., on Friday, December 8, 1899. He leaves a young wife 
(having been married last spring), a mother, two brothers and a sister, besides 
many friends, to mourn his death. He lived in Suffolk several years ago, and was 
highly respected and popular. The remains were brought here on Saturday 
afternoon and interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery, the burial services being 
conducted by Revs. J.F. Love and J.H. Kabler. The following young gentlemen 
acted as pallbearers; Messrs. Milton Riddick, Alley Copeland, Oscar Daniel, 
Frank Gurley, Wesley Godwin and James Copeland.
