All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ BEVERLY BOOTH ROGERS Funeral services for Beverly Booth Rogers, prominent lumberman and business man of Courtland, whose death occurred last Saturday, were conducted Monday from the residence in Courtland at 3 o'clock. The Rev. A.W. Roten officiated, assisted by the Rev. J.E. Brooks, former pastor of Courtland M.E. Church and the Rev. Tunstall of Petersburg. Mrs. C.W. Parker and Mrs. T.P. Gilbert sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "God Will Take Care of You," being sung by the members of the Courtland Methodist choir. There was a large attendance and there were many beautiful flowers, the casket being covered with a pall of Easter lilies, fern and pink roses. The pallbearers were W.E. Edwards, W.J. Sebrell, Dr. I.P. Gilbert, O.M. Joyner, J.W. Rollison, Dr. G.H. Quillen, James T. Gillette and C.W. Williams, honorary bearers being friends of the family. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Rogers was the son of Mrs. Julia E. Rogers of Petersburg and the late Robert A. Rogers of Sussex. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Powell Rogers; two sons, Beverly Rudolph and Olden Douglas; his mother, Mrs. Julia Rogers, of Petersburg; two brothers, Paul R. and Harvey L. Rogers of Petersburg, and four sisters, Mrs. Ada L. Parsons of Waverly and Mrs. M.D. Thompson, Mrs. V.W. Gates and Mrs. J.E. Steger of Petersburg.
