She was the daughter of the late George W. Wade, and the late Mrs. Eliza Turner Wade, and was born on October 10, 1903 in Southampton County, Virginia. Her early school days were spent in Courtland and she was graduated from Franklin High School and attended Longwood College after which she taught in the Brunswick County Public Schools for one year, and the Greensville County Public Schools for three years. On August 14, 1926 she was married to Joe W. Rogers, of Emporia, and spent her entire married life as a resident of Emporia. Mrs. Rogers was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church for a number of years where she taught a Sunday School class, and served as a member of the Board of Deacons. During the pastorate of Rev. Lee Van Ruckman, she transferred her membership to Monumental Methodist Church where her husband had for 34 years held his membership. As long as her health permitted, she regularly attended church and Sunday School; even when her health began to fail, and attending was an effort, she was faithful. Her Christian faith was a source of inspiration to her many friends. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor in Monumental Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 20, at 2 p.m. with interment in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Franklin. The active pallbearers included S.L. Vassar, D.T. Rogers, Jr., E.M. Grizzard, M.L. Nicholson, L.R. Dunn, J.A. Parsons, Howard Short, and H.L. McDearmon. Surviving Mrs. Rogers are her husband, Joe W.
