Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. William B. Denston, the Rev. Grover C. Holder and the Rev. Erold A. Lotridge. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin. Pallbearers were Leland Turner, Charlie Lassiter, Robert Hall, Kelly Cole, Wilson Askew, Ralph Asbell, E.O. Willoughby Jr., and Ray Buck. Ritter, 56, died Tuesday at 10:35 a.m., in Norfolk General Hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary L. Bradshaw Ritter and a son of the late George W. Ritter and Mrs. Rosa E. Lewis [Ritter]. He was a maintenance mechanic for Lipton Tea Co., Suffolk. He recently moved to Zuni from Suffolk where he lived many years. He was a deacon of Wilroy Baptist Church and teacher of its Nine-Year Boys Class. Besides his widow, surviving are seven sisters, Mrs. Mattie Beaton of Gloucester Point, Mrs. Pearl R. Johnson, Handsom, Mrs. Emmett R. Johnson of Courtland, Mrs. Iner R. Tuttle of Williamsburg, Mrs. W.C. Wilbur of Norfolk, Mrs. Paul Cutchins, Chuckatuck; and Mrs. Elma R. Frankle, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three brothers, George H. Ritter of Petersburg, Gurley W. Ritter, and Howard Ritter of Zuni.
