She was born in Southampton County, a daughter of the late Russell Brett "Hap" and Clara Bradshaw Railey. A graduate of Longwood College, she was a member of Kappa Delta Gamma Sorority and was a former teacher with Southampton County Public Schools and Southampton Academy. She retired as a concierge with Kingsmill Resort and Conference Center in Williamsburg. She was a member of Newsoms United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Craig Olden Smith of Newport News and Todd Brett Smith and his wife, Kristen, of Williamsburg; a sister, Dorothy R. Grizzard and her husband, Jerry, of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Gabrielle Smith, Joshua Smith and Brett Smith; and two nieces, Susan G. Hiser of Gloucester and Kim G. Jones of Yorktown. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Newsoms United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Langley and the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that memorials be made to Newsoms UMC, P.O. Box 297, Newsoms, VA 23874, or to the Scleroderma Foundation, 89 Newbury St., Suite 201, Danvers, MA 01923.
