CHARLES CRAWFORD RAWLS

   FRANKLIN - Charles Crawford Rawls, 65, of the 400 block of S. High St., 
a retired timber cruiser, died Jan. 23, in a hospital.

   Mr. Rawls, a native of Franklin, retired from Continental Forest 
industries, Wakefield.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member 
of Franklin Baptist Church, Loyla Order of Moose Lodge 5192 and Veterans of 
Foreign Wars Post 4411.

   Survivors include his wife, Joyce Pixley Rawls; two daughters, Sheryl Ann 
Rawls of Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Charla R. Darden of Franklin; a stepson, 
Church Whitley of Suffolk; a sister, Malita R. Askew of Gates County, N.C.; 
and two grandchildren.

   A graveside service was conducted Sunday in Southampton Memorial Park by 
the Rev. Ira Hudgins.

His first wife, Irma HALL RAWLS (2m. BELL) is bd. with her parents in 
   Christus II, Plot 26/27.
