She was the wife of Dr. Joel C. Rawls and a daughter of James H. and Mrs. Lelia Wright Guthrie. Born in Lynchburg,* she lived here since 1912. She was a graduate of the old Woman's College of Richmond, now Westhampton College. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, was superintendent of its primary department in the Sunday school 25 years, a past president of the Women's Missionary Union, past superintendent of Baptist Blackwater Association, teacher of the King's Servant Sunday school class and past president of Franklin Garden Club. Besides her husband, surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mamie Cloyd of Dublin, Mrs. Annie Ligon of Pamplin and Mrs. Frances Donley of Hobbs, N.M.; and two brothers, Fred O. Guthrie of Lynchburg and John R. Guthrie of Alexandria. A funeral service was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church and the Rev. C.G. Benner, assistant pastor. W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were S.W. Rawls Jr., Delaney Hingerty, James E.
