JOHN T. RAWLS

   John T. Rawls, 78, died at seven o’clock Saturday morning, October 11, at 
his home in Capron.  He had been in failing health for some time.

   A son of the late Elisha and Mary Rawls of Southampton County and a brother 
of the late Uriah Rawls, Mr. Rawls is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude* Felts 
Rawls; six sons, Livy N. Rawls of Richmond, Julian E. Rawls and Eldridge W. 
Rawls of Norfolk, John Clayton Rawls of Oakland, Calif., Clyde N. Rawls of 
Portsmouth, and Raymond Rawls of Capron; a daughter Mrs. B.F. Rountree, and a 
step-daughter, Mrs. E.M. Hanbury, both of Portsmouth.

   The funeral was conducted from the home at three o’clock Monday afternoon 
with burial in the Capron Cemetery.

He appears in the 1900 Census (Deep Creek Dist., Norfolk Co., VA) b. Oct 1869. 

His Death Certificate, #234579, gives b. 27 Aug 1871. 

John- age "26," so b. 1868- 1m. 13 Dec 1894 Maude Della EDWARDS.

*His widow's name is usually spelled Maud; she 1m. 25 Jan 1899 
   John H. CONWELL (So.Co. MB9:492).
