Ivor - Funeral services for Owen Robert (Doodle) Rawls, 56, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. James M. Hague. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery. Pallbearers were; Peyton Kea, J.J. Bradshaw, J. Russell West, C.A. Newsome, Warren Cobb Jr., Julian Felts, Fred Ashby, Merrell Carr and Marion Rayford [sic; Raiford]. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Ivor volunteer fire department. Rawls died Tuesday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk. He was a native of Isle of Wight County and the husband of Mrs. Barbara Brothers Rawls. He was a member of Ivor United Methodist Church, where he was Sunday school superintendent. He was a charter member of Ivor Volunteer Fire Department, treasurer of Ivor Ruritan Club, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired employee of Virginia State Department of Agriculture. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Brenda E. Smith of Chesapeake; two sons, R. Kilby Rawls and Ricky C. Rawls of Ivor; and a granddaughter.
