RICHARD HOLMES RAWLES 

R.H. RAWLES SUCCUMBS AT AGE OF 75 

   Richard Holmes Rawles, 75, head machinist of Union Bag-Camp Paper Corp. 
44 years and a native of Nansemond County, died after a long illness.

   He was the husband of Mrs. Estelle Copeland Rawles, a son of Richard 
and Mrs. Lulu Jones Rawles of Nansemond County, and a member of Franklin 
Congregational Christian Church, Franklin Masonic Lodge 151, Franklin 
Eastern Star, and Holland and Bronco Hunt Clubs.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Weems of 
Norfolk; a son, Richard H. Rawles, Jr. of Franklin; three brothers, Shirley 
H. Rawles of Whaleyville; W.L. Rawles of Chesapeake and Elisha L. Rawles of 
Mickleton, N.J.; four sisters, Miss Bessie Rawles and Mrs. Nell O’berry of 
Suffolk, Mrs. Alice Gardner of Nansemond County and Mrs. Adona R. Councill 
of Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

   The body was taken to Holland Funeral Home, Franklin.  A funeral service 
was held in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. William A. Grissom, of Windsor 
Congregational and Edward C. Thornton Jr. of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. 
Masonic rites were accorded at the grave.
