All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM BEVERLY RAWLS William Beverly Rawls, well-known resident of Franklin, died last Friday morning at Raiford Hospital after a week’s illness there. Mr. Rawls, the son of the late William E. and Martha Jane Holland Rawls of Southampton County, was born near Franklin June 4th, 1864, and had lived his entire life here. He was a quiet, unassuming man, but friendly and ever ready to give his services where they were needed. Survived him are two sisters, Mrs. E.A. Dillon and Mrs. M.R. Thigpen of Franklin; three nieces, Miss Bessie Dillon of Franklin, Miss Martha Savage of Boykins and Mrs. Henry P. Deyarle of Charleston, S.C.; one nephew, S.B. Savage, Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; one great-niece, Miss Ann Dillon, and one great-nephew, William W. Dillon, Jr. of Franklin. Funeral services were held form his late residence on South High Street Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, with interment in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were: J.L. Rountree, Roy Edwards, C.H. Dougherty, Wayland Jones, Frank Howell, R.L. Wellons, F.R. Day all of Franklin, and J.S. Morgan of Suffolk.
