All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ AMOS THORNTON ROLLINGS Amos Thornton Rollings, the fourth son of the late Richard Harrison and Susan Barrett Rollings, age 52, died September 27, 1940, at his home in Sedley. November 2, 1915, he was married to Miss Nannie R. Butler, who survives him. To this union there was born one son, Thornton, whose rich life they devotedly shared for 18 years. When a senior in high school he was killed in an automobile accident. Educated in the county schools of Southampton, Amos became one of Southampton’s well known and best loved citizens. He was a life-ling devout member of Barrett’s Christian Church, which was organized by his maternal ancestors more than a century ago. Besides his widow, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. J. Clyde Williams of Sedley, Miss Viola Rollings of Richmond; two brothers, Edwin M. Rollings of Sedley and Jesse B. Rollings of Portsmouth and a number of nieces and nephews.
