MARTHA CAROLYN JOYNER ROLLINGS

   SEDLEY - Mrs. Carrie Joyner Rollings, 85, died Friday afternoon in 
Newport News hospital.

   A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of Henry and Mrs. 
Indiana Butler Joyner and the wife of Edwin Mills Rollings.

   She was a member of Barrett Christian Church.

   Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Edwin T. Rollings of 
Richmond; three daughters, Mrs. Carrie R. Parrott of Richmond, Mrs. Irma R. 
Kitchen of Newport News, and Mrs. Hattie R. Kern of Charlestown, W. Va.; 
two brothers, Alex D. Joyner of Yonkers, N.Y. and M.B. Joyner of Dendron; 
and five grandchildren.

   A funeral service was held Sunday at 2:30 in the Chapel of W.J.M. Holland 
and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Carl Wallace, pastor of the First United 
Church of Christ, assisted by the Rev. C.E. Gerringer of Barretts Christian 
Church.  Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley.

   Pallbearers were M.R. Bryant, Jr., Tommy Pittman, Henry Joyner, A.F. Vick, 
Marion Joyner, J.C. Kitchen, Bernard Barrett and Jessie Joyner.
