RAWLINGS Novella Pope Rawlings, 78, died July 15, 2000, at her home. Mrs. Rawlings was born in Harnett County, N.C., a daughter of the late Arthur F. and Will Cooper Pope. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Sen. William Vincent Rawlings. Mrs. Rawlings was a graduate of St. Mary's Junior College and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. She was a member of Capron United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth R. Willey and her husband, Robert, of Alexandria and Vincent R. Dyer and her husband, Raymond, of Winston- Salem, N.C.; one son, Arthur P. Rawlings and his wife, Doris, of Courtland; one sister, Josephine Pope Mixon of Dunn, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Carey V. Willey of Alexandria, Robert H. Willey III of New York, William V. Rawlings II of Virginia Beach, Sara V. Rawlings of Courtland, and Douglas R. Dyer and Catherine E. Dyer, both of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Rawlings was predeceased by a sister, Billye Pope Creel. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Capron Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the family home in Capron this evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Capron Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 128, Capron, VA 23829, or to Capron United Methodist Church, 23121 Main St., Capron, VA 23829. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge of arrangements. Novella (POPE; Mrs. William V.)
