Mrs. Susan Barrett Rollings, wife of Richard H. Rollings of the Sebrell community. Her death occurred September 11, 1920, after having suffered an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Rollings, born August 27, 1853, was a daughter of the late James M. Barrett, who was a charter member and deacon of Barrett's Christian Church. She herself became an active member in early girlhood and has ever lived a life of service, which measured up to the standard of right - her one great aim and desire. One who possessed such pure and noble traits of character as she did, will be missed everywhere. There was never a more generous, lovable, self-sacrificing, devout woman. At all times, her life stood out as an example for those around her. During her recent illness, borne with patience and Christian fortitude, she realized and pictured in beautiful words, the way of the great Beyond - her future home. On September 12, at the home of the deceased, the funeral service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.M. Roberts, Windsor, who based his remarks on 2 Tim. 4:17, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." The service was made very impressive by the music, "Asleep in Jesus," and "Home Sweet Home" as sung by the quartette, Mrs. Wyatt Slade and Mr. W.S. Barrett, Dendron, Miss Grace Rollings and Mr. Faison, Sebrell. The deceased is survived by her husband, Richard H. Rollings, three sons, Edwin Mills Rollings, Sebrell; Jesse Barrett Rollings, Victoria; Amos Thornton Rollings, Sedley; two daughters, Mrs. J. Clyde Williams and Miss Viola Virginia Rollings, Sebrell; seven grandchildren; three sister, Mrs. Ida Barrett Laine, and Miss Martha Barrett, Wakefield, Mrs. Lucy F. Spivey, Isle of Wight C.H.; one brother, Mrs. Joseph Barrett. The active pallbearers were her three sons, Edwin Mills Rollings, Jesse Barrett Rollings, J. Clyde Williams; five nephews, Herman Rollings, Reginald Rollings, Sebrell; Frank Laine, Chester; Arthur Spivey, Wakefield; W.S. Barrett, Dendron; honorary, one son, Amos Thornton Rollings; attending physician, Dr. E.B. Kilby; J. Spratley Rollings, H.B. Richardson, J.E. Ellsworth, W.G. Rollings, W.T. Pittman, H. Kitchen, W.S. Briggs, W.R. Pittman, W. Whitehead, F.W. Stortz. The lovely floral designs which covered her mound manifested the esteem and love of her friends, and in the presence of a large assembly gathered around the family cemetery, the last tribute was paid at sunset Sunday evening as the choir sang "Abide With Me."
