All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ FRANK REDD RANSON COURTLAND MAN DIES OF HURT SUSTAINED IN HIGHWAY MISHAP Frank Redd Ranson, 32, Courtland manufacturer of tents and awnings, died Monday morning, May 30, in Raiford Memorial Hospital of injuries received Friday afternoon about five o'clock in an automobile accident on the Franklin- Courtland highway. Mr. Ranson was returning alone to Courtland from Franklin when, according to conjecture, he lost control of his car, which crashed into a signboard off the right of the road. He was the son of Franklin Alexander Ranson of Farmville and the late Mrs. Gertrude Redd Ranson, and the husband of Mrs. Katherine Edwards Ranson of Courtland. He was a member of the Courtland Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and father he is survived by one son, Frank Redd Ranson, Jr., and one daughter Alice Faye Ranson, both of Courtland and one brother, Clyde Alexander Ranson of Farmville. Funeral services for Mr. Ranson were held at the Courtland Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, the pastor, Rev. L.M. Kanipe, officiating. Burial was in the Courtland cemetery, active pallbearers being Tuland Duncan, Albert Johnson, Willie Uhrick, Bruce Redd, Milton T. Futrell, Vance Grissom, Russell Overby and Hampton Edwards.
