Holland & Sons chapel on Wednesday, May 26. Mrs. Rountree died in her sleep at her home on Monday afternoon. A resident of Franklin for 45 years, she was the wife of Jodie L. Rountree of Franklin and the daughter of the late Benjamin and Martha Hayes Fanny of Reynoldson, N.C. Besides her husband, Mrs. Rountree is survived by one sister, Mrs. India Tillman of La Grange, Ill.; two half sisters, Mrs. Rosa Small of Whaleyville and Mrs. John T. Burkette of Portsmouth; one brother, Grafton C. Fanny of Scotland Neck, N.C., and a number of nieces and nephews. Officiating at the funeral service were the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, and the Rev. H.L. Carnes. Pallbearers were John Wyatt, Cecil Burkette, George Watkins, Samuel Mitchell, Bennie Carr, George E. Pillow, Herman Bowles, and Linwood Norfleet.
