Rountree Franklin, Dec. 31. - John R. Rountree, farmer of Holland community, died at his home in this morning after an illness of many weeks. Mr. Rountree is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Cobb Rountree; two daughters, Mrs. C.E. Cobb, of Carrsville, and Mrs. A.W. Turner, of Franklin; three sons, Acey and Roger B. Rountree, of Holland, and Ashby Rountree, of Suffolk. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, at 3 o'clock at the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, by Rev. Elwood W. Jones. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. John R. ROUNTREE, farmer, b. ca. 1860, Southampton Co., d. 31 Dec 1936, at home, near Holland, interred in Poplar Spring Cemetery (Section 2, Plot 23*), Franklin, 1 Jan 1936, donated obit, publication unknown, clipping posted with Find a Grave Memorial #211025736, by Martha Fontaine Byrum, from the Maggie Eley Duke & Audrey Eloise Duke Butler Collection *Apparently unmarked; John & his widow (1867 - 1944) have been added to their sons' plot.
