All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MILLARD FOREST ROUNTREE NEWSOMS - Millard Forest Rountree, 62, well known retired farmer of the Newsoms community died early Thursday morning at Southampton Memorial Hospital after an illness for many months. He was the husband of Mrs. Hazel Smith Rountree and son of the late Daniel R. and Martha Jane Worrell Rountree. He was a member of the Newsoms Methodist church, and Men’s Bible class. He was a Pastmaster of Masonic Lodge 128 of Newsoms and an honorary member of the Newsoms Ruritan Club. Surviving him besides his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Leone R. Brown of Franklin; one brother, Malcolm U. Rountree of Orange, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. D. Nellie Ferguson of Portsmouth and Mrs. Lelia R. Whitham of Courtland. A funeral service was conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Newsoms Methodist Church by the pastor, the Rev. Robert E. Abbott. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery with Masonic Rites. W.J.M. Holland and Sons were in charge. Pallbearers were R.L. Porter, J.T. Story, Jr., J.C. Story, E.B. Prince Jr., R.N. Darden Jr., Gilbert Francis, E.Beale Carter Sr. and Fred Worrell.
