TONY SHAW

COURTLAND BOY DIES FOLLOWING ACCIDENT

   Tony Shaw, 19 year old Courtland boy, died Wednesday afternoon about 4:30 
o'clock in Raiford Hospital here from injuries sustained when his car was 
wrecked on the highway between Courtland and Capron on Thursday night of last 
week.  Shaw sustained a fractured skull and never regained consciousness after 
the accident.  He was driving alone and was not in collision with any other 
vehicle when the accident occurred and no satisfactory explanation could be 
found.

   He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Eula Shaw, three brothers, Willie and 
Percy Shaw of Courtland and Howard Shaw of Portsmouth.  For the past six years 
Shaw had been employed by the B.B. Rogers Lumber Company at Courtland.

   Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the graveside 
in Riverside Cemetery.  Rev. A.W. Roten conducted the services, burial being 
in the family plot.  Pallbearers were Cooper Whitfield, Rudolph Rogers, Skinny 
Cobb, L.A. Clements, Melvin Thompson, Emerson Whitfield and B.B. Rogers.
