Holland & Sons Home by the Rev. C.L. Gatling and Dr. R.E. Brittle. Pallbearers were Charlie Corbitt, W.T. Pace, Theo Beale, Roland Whitley, Charlie Bulls, T.J. Blythe, R.B. Raiford and G.E. Pillow. Mrs. Spivey, 83, died early Thursday in a nursing home after a long illness. She was the widow of Joseph Hudson Spivey, and a daughter of Benjamin and Mrs. Margaret Virginia Corbitt Bristow. A native of Southampton County, she was a lifelong member of Black Creek Baptist Church and its Women's Missionary Society. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary S. Carter of Franklin and Mrs. Virginia S. Sawyer of Shiloh, N.C.; four sons, Paul Spivey of Hopewell, Linwood M. Spivey of Hamden, Conn., Elton Spivey of Norfolk, and Edward F. Spivey of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Maria J. Brittingham of Suffolk and Mrs. Mary J. Wade of Joyner; five grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
