The son of the late James Edward and Ella Jane Worrell Spain, he was a native of Newsoms. He had resided here for the past 15 years. A carman of the Seaboard Airline Railroad, he was a member of the Newsoms Methodist Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen. Mr. Spain is survived by a sister, Miss Myrtle Barham Spain and a brother, Oren L. Spain, both of Portsmouth; and a niece Mrs. Odell S. Pendleton, of Norfolk. The body was removed to the Snellings Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Newsoms Cemetery.
