All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MYRTLE RAIFORD SPENCE EMPORIA - Mrs. Myrtle Raiford Spence, 47, of Emporia, formerly of Southampton County, died Tuesday night in Raiford Memorial Hospital after illness of many weeks. She was the wife of Frank Roy Spence of Emporia and a daughter of Allen and Mrs. Lizzie Joyner Raiford of Franklin. She was a member of Corinth Friends Meeting House since childhood. Survivors, besides her husband and parents, are three daughters, Mrs. Mollie Harrup, Mrs. Peggie Richardson and Miss Brenda Delbridge of Emporia; two sons, George Thomas Delbridge and Joseph Edward Delbridge of Emporia; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Galtress and Mrs. Woodson Eanes of Franklin and Mrs. Dudley Raiford of Ivor, and one brother, Timothy Raiford of Franklin. A funeral service was held today at 2 p.m. at Holland Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. James A. Coney, pastor of Corinth Friends Meeting House, and the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of Franklin Baptist Church. Burial was in the family cemetery near Sedley. Pallbearers were Wilroy Stephenson, Elton Stephenson, Elton Raiford, Edgar Lowe, Shelton Lowe and Willie Stieh, Jr. Myrtle Beatrice (RAIFORD DELBRIDGE; Mrs. Frank R.) Several siblings, most of whom died as children, are listed in her mother's JOYNER family's cemetery- it's location is not known.
