J.L. Buckingham. Shipman died Thursday in a hospital. A native of Stilwell, Okla. and former resident of Windsor, he was the husband of Jean Cook Shipman. He was retired from the Navy as a chief petty officer after 20 years. Other survivors include two daughters, Lisa Kay Berge of Port Orange and Susan L. Barwner of Norfolk; a stepson, Karlus Bailey of Ivor; two sisters Maxine Kendall of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Halean Myer of Fort Myer, Texas; two brothers, Elsa Shipman of Mountain Home, Ark., and George Shipman of Tahlequah, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
