FRANKLIN - William Monroe Shafer, Jr., 94, died Tuesday Nov. 18, at a Suffolk nursing home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Mildred Clark Shafer and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Will Monroe Shafer. He was a native of Barron, Wis. Moving to Franklin about 50 years ago, he was employed at the Camp Manufacturing Co. until retirement. Surviving, besides his wife, is one niece, Mrs. W.T. Jones of Mirabloma, Calif. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins. Pallbearers were Floyd Wellons, Alton Vick, M.O. Wagenback [sic; Wagenbach], R.L. Wellons, J.L. Rountree and Jack Jacovides.
