Spiers was conducted Friday at 3 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Dr. A.J. Duncan. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Surry County. Pallbearers were Clarence Stallings, Guy Ingram, W.W. Jennings, Hugh J. Hargrave, Robert H. Moore and J. Garland Cooper. Mrs. Spiers, 72, died Wednesday in a Portsmouth hospital. A native of Ivor, she was a former resident of Boykins and a daughter of Joseph S. and Mrs. Ida Brittle Holmes and the wife of William Ernest Spiers. She was a member of Dendron Baptist church and former postmistress of Savage Station. Besides her husband she is survived by a son Norfleet W. Spiers of Portsmouth; a brother Willie H.
