Shepherd of Charlotte C.H., Virginia, and the daughter of Mrs. Walter H. Britt and the late Walter H. Britt of Boykins, died in Boykins Wednesday after a brief illness. Mrs. Shepherd was 34 years of age, a native of Boykins, graduating at the Boykins High School and the Harrisonburg State Teachers College. She taught in the Charlotte C.H. High School for three years, where she met Mr. Shepherd, principal of that school, and they were married August 12, 1925. She was an active and consistent member of the Charlotte Courthouse M.E. Church, and of its missionary organizations, and was prominent in the civic and social activities of the town. Besides her husband, Prof. Leonard Hall Shepherd, principal of the Charlotte Courthouse High School, she leaves a daughter, Mildred Hall, nine years of age; her mother, Mrs. Britt; two brothers, John M. Britt and Walter H. Britt, Jr., and one sister, Mrs. Herman O. Carlton, all of Boykins, besides a wide circle of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Britt residence in Boykins yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock by Rev. J.L. Kibler of the Boykins M.E. Church, assisted by Rev. Graham S. Carlton of Stony Creek, Va., and Rev. Frank B. Handley of Boykins. Burial was made in the family plot, Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The casket was covered with a pall of pink roses and white lilies, and there were many handsome floral tributes. The pallbearers were: J.M. Hill, Everett Bryant, Carroll Edwards, Earl W. Bryant, Prof. John Y. Mason, Dr. J.M. Bland, F.A. Hines and W.W. White, Jr., friends of the family serving as honorary bearers. ****************************************************************************** INEZ BRITT SHEPHERD Funeral services for Mrs. Inez Shepherd, who died June 10, wife of L.H. Shepherd of Charlotte C.H., were held from the residence of her mother, Mrs. Walter H. Britt, in Boykins, June 11, at 4 o’clock by Rev. J.L. Kibler of Boykins M.E. Church, assisted by Rev. G.S. Carlton of Stony Creek, Rev. F.B. Handley of Boykins and Rev. Dr. Hopkins of the Presbyterian Church, Charlotte C.H. Mrs. G.S. Carlton sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus"; and the Boykins Quartette sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "Abide With Me" and "Does Jesus Care." Burial was made in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Mrs. Shepherd was a graduate of Boykins High School and Harrisonburg State Teachers College. She taught in Charlotte C.H. for several years, where her husband is principal of that school. She numbered a host of friends in her home town and at Charlotte C.H. Though quiet and unassuming, she possessed the happy faculty of making friends. She was a woman of fine qualities and will be greatly missed. She was a member of the Methodist Church and active in all of its organizations and was prominent in social and civic activities of the town. In the home of this woman affection and kindness abounded. Very tender and beautiful were the ties that bound the little family together. Farmer, Miss Ellen Babb of Courtland; Miss Frances Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Hill, Mrs. Maggie Hill, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. L.F. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Mann, Mrs. J.E. Mann, Mrs. Ralph Mann, Walter Parker and Miss Elizabeth Mann, all of Murfreesboro; Mrs. J.L. Leavitt and Lawrence Leavitt, Portsmouth; Mrs. Norman Moseley, Littleton, N.C., and Rev. and Mrs. G.S.
