Sebrell, the beloved wife of Hon. Jas. E. Sebrell, formerly of Southampton but now a resident of Norfolk, died at the residence, 1112 Redgate Avenue, Monday, in her 86th years. She was a native of this county, the daughter of the late James Nicholas Bell, and was a most estimable woman, exemplary qualities and for her splendid Christian character, being a devout and consistent member of the M.E. Church. She had been living in Norfolk for about one year, death resulting from the infirmities of extreme old age. She is survived by her husband, James E. Sebrell; two daughters, Miss Rena F. Sebrell, of Norfolk, and Mrs. J.E. Moyler, of Franklin; five sons, Thomas E. Sebrell, of Roanoke, Va.; J. Emmett Sebrell, M.D.; Robert A. Sebrell, John N. Sebrell, Jr., of Norfolk and Charles H. Sebrell, of Lawrenceville; one half-brother, John N. Sebrell, Sr., of Courtland; twelve grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late William James Sebrell, her oldest child, who was one of the county’s most distinguished citizens and Commonwealth’s Attorney for Southampton County at the time of his death. Funeral services were held from the residence Wednesday at noon, Rev. W.T. Green and Rev. F.L. Wells officiating. Interment was made in Elmwood Cemetery. Franklin relatives who attended the funeral services in Norfolk were Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Moyler, Miss Rebe Moyler, Mrs. G.M. Whitley, Miss Alice Bell, Messrs. J.N. Bell and C.A. Bell. M.Reg. 1750-1853, pp. 549, 719) Their half-brother John N. SEBRELL, Sr., is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, in an unknown plot. Their son William James SEBRELL is also buried there - Episcopal Sect., Plot 15.
