All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ THEOPHILUS EDWARD SEBRELL The body of Theo Edward Sebrell, who was drowned in the Roanoke river near South Hill, Va., on Tuesday, June 8, was buried in the family burying ground at Sebrell, Va., last Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the presence of a large company of sorrowing relatives and friends. He was born at Sebrell, Va., November 21, 1902 and died June 8, 1920. He is survived by his mother and father, Mrs. B.W. Sebrell and Mrs. Annie Little Sebrell; by two brothers, B.W. Jr. and John Barham Sebrell, and two sisters, Frances and Sue Dunn Sebrell. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Church joining Trinity M.E. Church, this county at the age of 11, and removing his membership to South Hill when his family moved to that town in February, 1918. He was active in the Sunday school, Epworth League and other departments of church work and was a boy of lovable qualities, happy disposition and many fine traits of character. The burial services were conducted by Rev. J.W. Stiff of South Hill and Rev. H.P. Myers of Emporia, a former pastor of the deceased. The active pallbearers were Winston Warren, Thompson Brown, Robert Bowden, Weldon Copley, Sam Bugg and Burgess Hamlet of South Hill, B.W. Davis of Sebrell and Jno. B. Darden, Jr. of Newsoms. A number of friends from this county and his new home acted as honorary pallbearers. The mound was completely covered with the many beautiful floral offerings set by sympathetic friends.
