All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EDWARD BUTLER SYKES Edward Butler Sykes, 51, engineer for Camp Manufacturing Company, Franklin, died Monday* morning, January 1, at Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of many months. Mr. Sykes was the husband of Mrs. Dora Alice Sykes and son of the late Charles Wesley and Lorena Harrison Sykes, of North Carolina. He was a member of High Street Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W.I. Davidson and Mrs. T.B. Lynn, both of Franklin; five sons, Edward B., C.J., William Eldridge, Norwood and Tommie Sykes, all of Franklin; one granddaughter, Nancy Davidson, of Franklin; three sisters, Mrs. S.S. Minton, of Warsaw, N.C.; Mrs. Edward Wells of New Mexico, and Miss Lorena Mae Sykes, of Wallace, N.C.; two brothers, John N. and Charles W. Sykes, of Wallace. Funeral services were held at the home, South Street and Grove Avenue, Thursday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. F.W. Aaron. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. *Monday was 31 Dec.
