Mr. Sykes was a prominent merchant in Branchville for many years, also including farming and banking among his business interest. He was a deacon of Branchville Baptist Church. Mr. Sykes was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wiley T. Sykes of Pendleton, N.C., where he was born. Surviving him are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Aubrey Woodard of Branchville and Mrs. Hudnall Dodd of Wytheville; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Porter, Severn, N.C., and Mrs. L.D. Boone of Conway, N.C., beside one grandchild. Services will be conducted from the Branchville Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Rev. F.B. Handley, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin and Rev. H.F. Turner of Boykins. [William Richard SYKES, merchant, b.
