WASDON SCARBOROUGH Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Wasdon Scarborough, 88, of Franklin, was held Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Gelhaus, J.J. Finley,Francis Clark, G. Hinson Park, Hap Purnell and Jack Holland. A native of Wilson, N.C., she was a daughter of Jonathan and Mrs. Marguerite Mayo Wasdon. Part of her childhood was spent in the North Carolina Baptist Orphanage. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, and in former years, had been active in its women's and youth organizations. She had attended Chowan College and had been a member of the Franklin Music Study Club. She resided many years on Clay St. until ill health required her to enter a nursing home in Richmond. She was the widow of Paul Scarborough, former editor and publisher of the Tidewater News. Scarborough, who died in 1950 was a former postmaster of Franklin and a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates from Southampton County. Surviving is one son, Charles W. Scarborough, a copy editor and music critic for the Richmond News Leader; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dora J. (WASDON; Mrs. H.
